Trump’s Empty Rhetoric on Las Vegas Shooting Rivets Nation

Liberty Writers Facebook Post

THE SOURCE

THE IMAGE

President Trump, reassuring Americans shocked and appalled by yet another senseless mass shooting that he intends to do absolutely nothing to prevent it from happening again.

THE REVEAL

Trump’s purported disclosure of “exactly who was behind the Las Vegas shooting” revealed that it was … evil. That’s right, in his nationally televised address, Trump characterized the shooting as “an act of pure evil,” and Liberty Writers identifies this as the culprit. Evil — an inanimate, incorporeal concept of immorality — is “who” was behind the shooting (normally, in the English-speaking world, we call that “what”). Imagine the disappointment of gullible Great Againers who thought it was Barack Obama.

THE STUPID

Trump’s five minute speech wasn’t an “announcement” of anything — it provided no new insight or information. It was a meaningless string of trite platitudes read from a teleprompter.

Liberty Writers’ post teases, “This is bad,” trying to suggest the shooter had help from some sinister accomplice (read: Muslims). But it turns out that it was just plain old evil. So there’s your news flash — evil is bad.

Liberty Writers’ post also urges its 1.8 million Facebook followers (seriously) to “help Trump get his message past the mainstream media,” even though Trump’s speech was carried live by every major news network and clips of it continued to be rebroadcast for the next 24 hours. Regardless, it’s unclear why anyone would want to suppress Trump’s declaration that the shooting was evil — not exactly a controversial sentiment. But evidently 800,000 shares are enough to thwart the anti-Trump media conspiracy.

The linked article warns, “Do not let the liberals make this about gun control. They are sick psychos that just want to use killing for political gain.” But using killing for economic gain, as Liberty Writers does with this shameless clickbait, is perfectly fine.

Ironically, Liberty Writers is (or claims to be) based in Las Vegas. But tellingly, the video it embeds in its article to show Trump’s rote remarks is from Russia Today.

ISIS Would Never Lie About Motive of American Mass Murderer

InfoWars Facebook Post

THE SOURCE

Don’t waste your time here.

THE IMAGE

Young concertgoers running for their lives because one-third of America thinks the Founding Fathers wanted unhinged assholes to have assault rifles.

THE REVEAL

ISIS’s claim of responsibility for the Las Vegas shooting was immediately and explicitly rejected by the FBI, well before InfoWars published its deliberately unsubstantiated and inflammatory post.

THE STUPID

The U.S. government does not theorize that the shooting had anything whatsoever to do with Islamic terrorism, and there is no evidence that the shooter, Stephen Paddock, was a Muslim. Investigating authorities assert that, at present, they have absolutely no idea what Paddock believed in, other than, presumably, his right to bear arms.

Paddock was a white, wealthy, 64-year-old accountant from Mesquite, Nevada — not exactly the typical demographic of an ISIS recruit.

As ISIS steadily loses territory and influence and its leaders find themselves under increasing pressure to show their continued power, the terror organization is increasingly taking credit for incidents that it had no involvement with, such as the deadly attack last June on a casino in Manila, which turned out to be a botched robbery (despite President Trump impulsively assuming otherwise). In the Manila attack, as with the Las Vegas shooting, ISIS alleged that the gunman had converted to Islam a few months earlier.

The linked “article,” which still appears on InfoWars’ raving website and likely will never be removed, does not provide any context or analysis for ISIS’s self-serving and almost certainly bogus claim, but simply presents it at face value, with the warning, “Do everything to protect yourself and your loved ones.” Everything, that is, except support mind-blowingly sensible legislation to keep military-grade mass-casualty weapons out of the trembling hands of America’s homegrown Second Amendment jihadists.

Offending Horrible Transgender People in California to Become a Crime

Western Journalism Facebook Post

Liberal activists in America undermining American values by opposing discrimination against Americans.

THE REVEAL

The dumb state that wants to throw godly people in jail for refusing to use “proper transgender pronouns” is California, undoubtedly no surprise to the “Duck Dynasty” crowd. However, concerned Adam and Evers may be relieved to learn that the proposed measure, menacingly known as the Seniors Long-Term Care Bill of Rights, does not apply to the state at large, but only to employees of long-term care facilities who interact with residents of those facilities. The bill passed both houses of the California legislature and is currently awaiting the governor’s signature.

THE STUPID

The bill protects all LGBTQ seniors in long-term care facilities, not just transgender residents (Western Journalism’s backwoods readers will have to search the Google to find out what dem high-falutin’ letters stand for). It also protects seniors with HIV.

The bill’s “pronoun provision”, which conservatives find so objectionable, states that “it shall be unlawful for a long-term care facility or facility staff to … willfully and repeatedly fail to use a resident’s preferred name or pronouns after being clearly informed of the preferred name or pronouns.” This indisputably poses a mortal threat to our civilization.

The pronoun provision is just one, and possibly the least important, protection afforded by the bill, which also bars discrimination in such forms as denying an LGBTQ senior admission to a long-term care facility, transferring a resident within a facility or to another facility based on the anti-LGBTQ attitudes of other residents, or evicting a resident from a facility on the basis of their actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or HIV status.

Although a care facility or staff member found guilty of violating a resident’s rights is subject to a fine of up to $1,000, or a year in prison, or both, there’s a better chance that Pat Robertson will finally come out as gay than that anyone will be sent to jail for using the wrong pronoun.

Illegal Immigrants and Dead Democrats Enabled Clinton to Win U.S. Popular Vote

Conservative Army Facebook Post

THE IMAGE

Hillary Clinton, looking shocked that a fake news site run by vodka-swilling teenagers in Macedonia trying to earn enough denars for new Vespa motor scooters managed to uncover the massive, coordinated electoral fraud that allowed her to obtain 2.8 million more votes than Donald Trump.

THE REVEAL

The “BREAKING” report allegedly showing that there were 25 million “completely fake” voters in the 2016 presidential election (which Conservative Army seems to think occurred in 2015) refers to a study published more than five years ago, in 2012, by the Pew Center on the States. The Pew study found that approximately 24 million voter registrations in the U.S. were either invalid or inaccurate, including some 1.8 million for deceased individuals. This does not mean that there were 24 million unlawful voters (or 25 million — ironically, Conservative Army counted the dead people twice). It only means, as the study carefully noted, that state election officials are slow to update registration rolls to reflect voter relocation or deaths, usually because such information has not been provided in a timely manner.

THE STUPID

The 2012 Pew study, lacking clairvoyance, did not find that 800,000 non-citizens voted for Clinton in 2016, nor did it make any finding about non-citizen voting, in any election. The Pew study also never said anything about “completely fake” voters, though Conservative Army’s post implies otherwise. The term isn’t even used in the bogus article the post links to, so Conservative Army is actually quoting nothing.

The 800,000 non-citizen votes come from a still older and thoroughly discredited study by three political science professors at Old Dominion University in Virginia, which, based on a small and patently unrepresentative survey sample, determined that 6.4% of adult non-citizens voted for president in 2008. After the 2016 election, one of the professors applied the unsubstantiated 6.4% voting rate to an estimated population of 20 million adult non-citizens residing in the U.S., and then, for reasons that are unclear, assumed that 81% of the putative non-citizen vote went to Clinton, netting her approximately 800,000 votes. This almost certainly is not the case (indeed, the Old Dominion study itself conceded that the actual number of non-citizen voters could be under 40,000); but even if the 800,000 figure is accepted, it’s far lower than the 3-5 million illegal votes President Trump claims were cast, or the 2.8 million total votes he lost by.

Illegal immigrants, who comprise the majority of U.S. non-citizens, generally shy away from any unnecessary official interaction with government institutions, for obvious reasons. So the idea that they are registering to vote in significant numbers seems rather far-fetched.

While accurate polling is difficult, there’s no indication that dead people tend to vote more frequently for Democrats.

The lead author of the Pew study has condemned conservatives’ blatant mischaracterization of his group’s findings and rejected any assertion that widespread voter fraud exists in the United States.

Minneapolis Hate Crime Hotline Enforces Sharia Law Against Non-Muslim Citizens

Patriot Journal Facebook Post

THE SOURCE

Don’t waste your time here.

THE IMAGE

Nefarious Muslim women in fashionable headscarves out to destroy everything we hold dear.

THE REVEAL

How the “SINISTER” system works: If you live in Minneapolis, and you think you may have been the victim of a hate crime, regardless of your religion, you can call the city hotline and lodge your complaint. If the complaint is deemed legally actionable, it will then be referred to the relevant authorities for further investigation. Any suspected hate crime relating to race, national origin, gender, gender identity, or religious affiliation may be reported. A few dozen cases have been investigated so far; roughly the same number have been rejected. Horrifying.

THE STUPID

Minneapolis is not “cracking down on anyone who opposes Sharia law,” nor can its “CREEPY” call system remotely be characterized as a “Sharia protection hotline.” Nothing in the city initiative specifically addresses Sharia law or is directed at enforcing it.

According to the Minneapolis Civil Rights Department, the hotline was created in response to a recent rise in incidents of racism, xenophobia, sexism and bigotry following the 2016 presidential election. It does not favor any religion over any other and will not be used to infringe upon anyone’s constitutionally guaranteed freedom of speech.

Several other U.S. cities, including New York, Washington, and Seattle, have established similar hotlines.

To the extent that Sharia law (which is not even adhered to or advocated by most American Muslims) conflicts with applicable federal, state, or local laws of the United States, it is clearly and indisputably unenforceable.

Contrary to the suggestion in Patriot Journal’s bigot-baiting headline, Muslims residing in Minneapolis are also the city’s “own citizens,” and are equally entitled to the protection of their civil liberties.
